The Spouses’ Club of Fort Eustis is a private non-profit organization tasked with a mission to have fun, build friendships, serve our community, participate in social activities, organize and sponsor educational opportunities, and contribute scholarships and welfare to the Fort Eustis community.

Funds generated through activities such as the consignment shop, annual gala and monthly luncheons are divided amongst the appropriate SCFE committees; these committees in turn distribute the funds in a manner governed by SCFE bylaws.

In the past, the welfare committee has been able to provide funds to wonderful organizations that have assisted Soldiers and their families in a variety of ways. These organizations have impacted even the youngest of our military family members. Stories such as “How to Bake an American Pie” are read while beautiful illustrations from the book are projected on a large screen behind the reader. The stories help children learn how others their age adapt to the unique circumstances of military life.

Older students are trained to participate in closely supervised, student-centered, student-led teams that help other transitioning students become oriented to their new schools by showing them around, eating lunch with them and providing helpful information.

Wounded warriors have received refurbished PDAs and Palm Pilots to help them track medical and personal appointments.

Morale for family members awaiting the return of their loved ones is nurtured monthly as hot, delicious meals are prepared for them by people who care deeply for their well-being.

Soldiers and family members passing through airports can find respite and help not available to the general public. Soldiers unable to go home for holidays have found comfortable, inviting places to spend their time listening to music, watching television, using computers, etc. If you feel your non-profit organization has something to offer to the Soldiers and families of the Fort Eustis community and you would like to be considered for funds, e-mail Lynn Hutcheson, SCFE Welfare Chair, at lynnhutcheson@hotmail.com to receive an application.
